One way we’re doing so is through the Aveda North America Carbon Neutral Shipping program. Launched last year, the initiative offsets 100% of carbon emissions generated from shipping for every U.S. order placed on Aveda.com—at no cost to you. It’s the first program of its kind for any beauty company in the United States.

Today, we’re proud to announce Aveda North America’s Carbon Neutral Shipping program is the recipient of a 2021 Elle Green Beauty Star Award.

Now in its 14th year, Elle Magazine’s Green Beauty Star Awards spotlight and uplift the new beauty products, programs and people innovating a cleaner, greener, more sustainable beauty industry. It’s an honor to be recognized as one of the leaders in eco-friendly and sustainable beauty. The work continues.

DARE TO CARE
The world is changing and with it, so are we. Basic human activity continues to impact the climate, so much so that atmospheric concentrations of CO2 are 48% higher than pre-industrial levels logged in 1850. That means rising global temperatures and their butterfly effect on virtually all of the planet’s ecosystems.

Since Aveda’s founding in 1978, we remain steadfast in our mission to care for the world. We aim to set an example for environmental leadership and raise a new standard of responsibility—not just in the beauty world, but around the world at large. Aveda North America’s Carbon Neutral Shipping program is one way we aim to leave a lighter eco footprint.

What started as a pilot program in April 2020 has blossomed into a fully realized one. How it works is simple: a customer in the U.S. makes a purchase on Aveda.com, Aveda then purchases offsets from three clean energy initiatives focused on wind power, solar power, and water filtration we support as a means of offsetting the carbon emissions shipping that order creates. It’s a way of balancing the scales on pollution and greenhouse gases, essentially compensating for the emissions we can’t avoid (yet!).

THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING
Aveda North America’s Carbon Neutral Shipping program is just another example of how we’re pioneering new benchmarks of environmental responsibility. From the Aveda Ingredient Glossary to being the first beauty company to use 100% post-consumer recycled materials in its packaging, to ensuring Aveda products are 100% vegan as of January 1, 2021, we continue to live up to our mission.
