A pretty, romantic Valentine’s Day hair and makeup tutorial

February 14th won’t know what hit it

What are you doing on Valentine’s Day? Do you have a hot dinner date, or are you planning to hang out with your friends instead? Whatever your V-Day plans may be, we believe you should do them in style. That’s why we turned to our friends, Aveda Artists Anne Skubis and Miranda Salviano, who created a flirty, glam Valentine’s Day hair and makeup look that seals the deal on February 14th, and all year long. Check out their step-by-step guide, complete with Aveda product recommendations and pro tips.

HAIR
Miranda says:

Step 1: Dry hair to 80% dry, then mist with Pure Abundance Style-Prep to boost volume and comb through. Finish drying hair using the Paddle Brush.
Step 2: Part your hair in the preferred direction. Use a 1” iron to set your hair in pin curls. Let the curls cool completely.
Step 3: Once all hair is curled, add a little Pure Abundance Hair Potion to the scalp to create volume and matte texture.
Step 4: After hair cools, take the set down and backcomb your curls. Smooth with Light Elements Smoothing Fluid and a comb.
Step 5: Pin the sides of your style as you see fit. Finish with a light mist Air Control hair spray for touchable hold.

SKIN & MAKEUP
Anne says:

Step 1: Prep skin with Botanical Kinetics Exfoliant and Hydrating Treatment Lotion, then apply Tulasāra Bright Concentrate. Prep lips with Feed My Lips Lip Treatment.
Step 2: Prep the eyes with Inner Light concealer, then apply Petal Essence Single Eye Color in Opal all over the eye.
Step 3: Apply the medium shade of Petal Essence Eye Color Trio in Earth Rose from the lash line to contour the eye.
Step 4: Define the contour with Bayberry Lip Liner and diffuse with a brush.
Step 5: Apply concealer all over lid to create a cut crease and set the concealer with the lightest shade of Black Tulip.
Step 6: Apply Violet Bloom to the outer corner of the eye and blend into the contour.
Step 7: Apply glitter adhesive and Universal Soul eco-glitter all over lid.
Step 8: After eye makeup is complete, apply Inner Light Mineral Tinted Moisture all over face and conceal where needed.
Step 9: Brush brows up and fill in with shadow or Brow Definer.
Step 10: Set Tinted Moisturizer with powder, then apply Face Accents in Tesserae with a blush brush.
Step 11: Use Petal Essence Eye Color in Opal as a highlight.
Step 12: Curl lashes and apply Mosscara. Add individual lashes if you like.
Step 13: Line the lips with a mix of Pomegranate and Bayberry lip liners, then apply Prickly Pear lipstick.
